Visiting Fellow

I am excited to be a Visiting Fellow at Cornell University for 2007 - 2008. The Feminist, Gender, & Sexuality Studies Program is sponsoring me. Here is their logo and you can check out the program by clicking on Visiting Fellow (the title of this post). Looking forward to meeting people and learning all sorts of new ideas. I'll write more from there once I get settled in this fall. A big thank you to everyone who made this happen. It's a real gift to have this opportunity. Cornell is so big compared to Wells. Everytime I go there I have to rearrange my eyes from looking at small village scenes to enormous Ivy League Buildings. It's a complete perceptual shift which is dizzying for my small eyes. Does this mean when I get back to Wells that I'll have to squint to see it? Just playing. Plus, gotta love being a Fellow. It's the beginning of una adventura. Pa' lante es pa' ya. Gracias, compañer@s.

Vic,
From the excitement in your "voice" I know this is a wonderful opportunity, but I really have no clue what it means?!? I will look forward to more information on a "fellow" at Cornell. I have never visited Cornell, yet~~

This "fellow" at Cornell will be a great opportunity for you. It will provide you with the time and hopefully distance you need to really look at life and your academic future. Girlfriend, I know you will be happier away from the toxic environment that envelops our lives presently. I wish some of the "cornerstones", "pillars" "academic crustaceans/crustaceans in academia, and "caged beings" could leave their "gilded environment" and view the world of academia and diversity through different lens.
It will not happen though because this is their reality and to see reality as others see and perceive it would be wake them out of the deep slumber of the 1950s and some of these people cannot and do not want to face the 21st century. Let them sleep on while the world turns.
Enjoy your time away! I know you will. Have fun. Ethel
