January 3, 2008. Email from President Lisa Marsh Ryerson to the Wells College faculty:President Lisa Marsh Ryerson and the Board of Trustees of Wells College announce the promotion of Victoria I. Muñoz to the position of Full Professor of Psychology effective January 1, 2008. Professor Muñoz is a 13-year veteran of the college and a respected scholar in the field of gender identity and sexuality within cultural contexts. Professor Muñoz has published extensively and has lectured both in the United States and abroad in her discipline.
Professor Muñoz first was appointed as Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department at Wells College in 1994. In 1999 she was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure. In 2003 Professor Muñoz was named the Patti McGill Peterson Professor of Social Sciences.

Congratulations Vic! You are a symbol of hope for that place.You have stood your ground and I hope brought Wells to her senses. Will the racist, bigoted behaviors to those who are not lily white and pristine, or those who dissent on Institutional Management be allowed to continue. Does everyone have to lock step with the Chief and believes what the Chief believes? Can the Board understand the economic,emotional and poor publicity drain these intolerant people are causing Wells? Where is diversity at Wells? Is there diversity at Wells? When will there be diversity at Wells? Is it too much to ask the Board to take a stance for diversity? The Human Rights Commission will, as often as we file suits against Wells and we will. All at Wells are now put on full notice. Students should also rise up and let their voices be heard. Congratulations my friend! I can just see people squirming. WHAT A VICTORY AGAINST THAT PLACE. SOME OF THE PEOPLE WHO DENIED YOU PROMOTION SHOULD BURY THEIR FACES IN THE GROUND OR BETTER STILL GO INTO RETIREMENT.How can they live with themselves? Let's keep the struggle going until diversity and justice roll down like a mighty stream taking all racists, homophobias and bigots to the ocean.
